Beekeeper Tom Francis invites you to explore the fascinating world of honeybees and the remarkable “superorganism” that is the hive. Discover how these tiny creatures embody virtues such as tireless work ethic, cooperation, cleanliness, and purpose. Through engaging insights and reflections, Francis reveals what humans can learn from these industrious pollinators and their essential role in sustaining life on Earth.

About the Speaker:

After 38 years in telecommunications with Verizon, Tom Francis got into beekeeping. Once his backyard operation, Bees By the Sea, outgrew its home, Tom was given permission to bring some of his beehives to Brookgreen, where he has been a member for over 30 years. Tom manages the observation hive at Brookgreen and educates the public about bees through area lectures, special appearances, interviews, and consultations.
