Full-Time Positions:

Assistant Manager of Guest Services - Guest Services is seeking a full-time Assistant Manager to support day-to-day operations across admissions, excursions, and visitor information areas. This role includes assisting with scheduling, training, and helping ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for all Brookgreen guests. It’s a hands-on position that includes daytime, weekend, and evening shifts during special events like Night of a Thousand Candles and other seasonal programs. Excellent customer service skills and experience working with the public in a similar environment are required, along with a strong ability to support and reflect Brookgreen’s culture of hospitality and teamwork.

Public Exhibits Associate - Step into a dynamic, hands-on role that brings Brookgreen Gardens’ seasonal and year-round exhibits to life. As a Public Exhibits Associate, you’ll learn and apply lighting techniques for signature events like Nights of a Thousand Candles and Summer Light: Art by Night, while gaining experience in both the creative and technical aspects of public exhibits. The role includes setting up lighting displays, operating lifts, assisting with meetings and lectures, and collaborating with departments across the Gardens. This is an opportunity to develop new skills and take on increasing responsibilities while supporting Brookgreen’s most memorable guest experiences.

Custodian - Join the team that helps Brookgreen Gardens look its best every day. We're hiring a full-time Custodian to help maintain clean, safe, and welcoming spaces for our guests and staff. This role is responsible for routine cleaning of restrooms, public areas, offices, and event spaces across the property, with some flexibility needed for evening shifts and special events. The ideal candidate is dependable, takes pride in their work, and is comfortable working independently and as part of a team in both indoor and outdoor settings.

Gardener - Join a team that cultivates beauty with purpose. As an entry-level Gardener at Brookgreen Gardens, you’ll help care for one of America’s most beloved public gardens, preserving historic landscapes and inspiring visitors year-round. This hands-on role includes planting, pruning, mulching, mowing, and maintaining seasonal displays while supporting pest control, irrigation, and special event preparations. Ideal for someone who thrives outdoors and values teamwork, this position is your opportunity to make a lasting impact in a nationally recognized cultural and botanical destination.

Safety Officer (6a – 2p Shift) - Help protect something extraordinary. As a Safety Officer at Brookgreen Gardens, you’ll play a key role in preserving a National Historic Landmark while ensuring a safe, welcoming experience for guests, staff, and volunteers. This customer service–oriented role is a first responder on the property and supports safety through patrols, monitoring security systems, assisting with events, responding to incidents, and helping implement disaster preparedness efforts—all while upholding Brookgreen’s commitment to care and conservation.

 

Part-Time Positions:

Historic Interpreter - Brookgreen Gardens is seeking a part-time Historic Interpreter to help bring the stories of the Lowcountry to life through engaging, accurate, and accessible public tours and programs. This role focuses on educating visitors about the rich cultural and historical heritage of the area, including plantation life, Gullah Geechee traditions, and Brookgreen’s own founding. Ideal candidates will have experience working with the public, enjoy speaking to groups, and feel comfortable learning and sharing historical information with enthusiasm and accuracy. Weekend and holiday availability is required.

Hours: 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM

For daytime admission, gates close at 4:30 PM. For their safety and the safety of our animal collection, pets are not allowed, nor can they be left in vehicles inside Brookgreen. Service animals that have received special training to assist disabled persons are welcome.
