This orchid was from a population growing on a low laying limb over the Diana pool in the white garden. The limb died and the orchids were rescued. The original orchids were collected by Ralph Gwen of Great Falls, SC in 1992. The record (for 1994-0003, but this record has the same provenance) indicates that he collected them from a unspecified location in the Francis Marion Forest.
