Edgeworthia chrysantha 'Winter Gold' was named by Ted Stephens of Nurseries Caroliniana in South Carolina.

Edgeworthia chrysantha 'Winter Gold' is a deciduous shrub that grows about three to four feet tall. Edgeworthia chrysantha is generally precocious, or flowers before its leaves emerge. It is hardy in USDA Zones 7 - 10. It does best in part shade.

'Winter Gold' differs from the species in that it has larger flowers and leaves. It is also considered to be easier to grow than the species, but we at Brookgreen Gardens have not noticed a marked difference between 'Winter Gold' and the species in this regard.
