About the Speaker:
Bobby Mottern is Director of Horticulture at Sarah P. Duke Gardens and leads a dynamic team of 16 horticulturists who manage the amazing 55-acre botanic garden in the heart of the Duke University campus. In his role, he oversees the garden’s physical operations, project management, and participates in a variety of educational programming and long-range planning. Bobby has a BS in Horticulture from Clemson University and a Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia. Bobby joined Duke Gardens in 2009. Previously, he worked with Reynolds and Jewell landscape architects in Raleigh. He also served 10 years as the Director of Horticulture at Brookgreen Gardens in Pawleys Island, SC. Bobby lives in Raleigh with his wife Lizzy, and daughter Bea.
