Immerse yourself in the cozy world of lap quilting at our upcoming workshop led by master quilter Cookie Washington! Join us for a hands-on experience where participants will learn essential quilting techniques, from selecting fabrics to piecing and stitching. Whether you're a seasoned quilter or a beginner, this workshop promises a creative and enjoyable journey into the art of crafting beautiful lap quilts. Participants must bring a sewing machine and a detail supply list will be sent to all registrants.

About the Speaker: 

Torreah “Cookie” Washington is a fourth-generation needle worker. Born in Rabat, Morocco, she has traveled extensively, and has made her home for the last 33 years in Charleston, SC. Ms. Washington has been guest curator of the African American Fiber Arts Exhibit that is part of the North Charleston Arts Festival. The exhibit has become so popular that it travels to various locations, including here, at Brookgreen Gardens. Through collaboration, Washington embraces her role as a creative facilitator that helps champion and shape an understanding on how art connects with community.
