Join artist Sharon Sorrels for an illustrated talk exploring the ideas, experiences, and processes behind Where Memory Resides. Sorrels will discuss how observation, memory, and lived encounters shape her figurative drawings and impressionistic landscapes, moving between intimate portrayals of individuals and atmospheric views of the South Carolina Lowcountry.
Working in oil, colored pencil, charcoal, and graphite, Sorrels draws from travel, photography, and personal narrative to examine how both people and places hold memory and meaning. During this talk, she will share insights into her creative practice, the role of light and color in her landscapes, and how everyday moments become visual stories.
The program offers visitors a deeper understanding of the exhibition and an opportunity to hear directly from the artist about the connections between memory, environment, and representation in her work.
