Whether you’re just starting out or are an experienced beachcomber, shark tooth hunter, or sheller, Ashley will share expert tips to help you maximize your finds. 

Learn how to select the best beach locations, interpret the influence of winds, moon phases, and tides, and choose the right gear for your outing. Dr. Oliphant will demonstrate her personal techniques and share secrets that have helped her uncover local treasures. 

Bring your questions and curiosity! The session includes a show-and-tell table featuring fascinating local finds to help you recognize what to seek on your next beach adventure. 

About the Speaker: Dr. Ashley Oliphant 

Dr. Ashley Oliphant is a retired Full Professor of English specializing in 20th-century American literature, with a focus on Ernest Hemingway, literary modernism, and rhetoric. Beyond academia, she is a passionate beachcomber and educator who travels across the U.S. offering interactive shark tooth and seashell workshops for all ages. A longtime member of the Hemingway Society, Ashley also contributes to its conferences and The Hemingway Review.
