Salvia longispicata × farinacea 'PAS1246577' (Big Blue) is the result of breeding in Guadalupe, CA at a Ball Horticultural Company research facility. It was given a Plant Variety Protection Certificate on July 31, 2018 of US PVP201700218.

It has been our experience that Salvia longispicata × farinacea 'PAS1246577' (Big Blue) performs well in our area, but tends to be slow to start. We have observed it to do well in both sun and shade conditions, where flowering occurs in both, but with plants in full sun growing larger than those in shade. We have found flowering to be continual throughout the growing season.
