All of our animals at Brookgreen were either born in captivity in zoos or have sustained an injury and could not survive in the wild. Our professional zookeepers provide safety, shelter, enrichment and lots of love for all our animals.

Brookgreen Gardens is also home to many wild species that make the greater area of the Gardens their home. When you visit, you are likely to see fox squirrels, wild turkeys, eagles, and yes . . . even some snakes and alligators. Please keep an eye out for our wild neighbors, and do not approach them.
