Rosa 'Sea Foam' was bred by Ernest W. Schwartz in the United States and is a cross between Rosa ('White Dawn®'  × 'Pinocchio' (Kordes, 1940)) × ('White Dawn®' × 'Pinocchio' (Kordes, 1940)) and R. ('White Dawn®' × 'Pinocchio' (Kordes, 1940)). It is a shrub rose and has the coveted designation of being an Earth-Kind® Rose, meaning it has superior disease resistance and is an excellent landscape plant. Rosa 'Sea Foam' can act as a ground cover or carpet type rose.

At Brookgreen Gardens, we have been continually impressed by how Rosa 'Sea Foam' has performed. We have found this rose to show very little signs or problems with black spot (Diplocarpon rosae) or other fungal problems. The flowering is consistent and highly attractive, the shrub is generally full with leaves, and is overall a strong performer and great addition to the landscape.

At Brookgreen Gardens, roses are rarely sprayed for fungal, insect, or other environmental pressures or problems. The Poetry Garden at Brookgreen Gardens is maintained as a completely spray-free rose garden, favoring the use of disease resistant roses and proper cultural practices.
