Mesembryanthemum cordifolium
There is confusion surrounding Mesembryanthemum cordifolium, as a variegated form of it is sometimes listed as Dorotheanthus bellidiformis 'Mesbicla' (Proven Accents® Mezoo™ Trailing Red). Dorotheanthus bellidiformis is a different plant, and it is believed that Dorotheanthus bellidiformis 'Mesbicla' (Proven Accents® Mezoo™ Trailing Red) is in fact a variegated form of Mesembryanthemum cordifolium. The origin of the name is unknown.
It has been our experience that Mesembryanthemum cordifolium performs well in our area in a warm season planting. It has been a low maintenance plant that performs well in both sun and shade. It can be used both in the ground or in containers. It is about six to eight inches tall by about a foot to a foot and a half wide.
