Orchids have mesmerized humans dating back centuries, even thousands of years. These mysterious plants conjure up images of deep, dark jungles, but did you know you can see orchids in your own backyard? This lecture will discuss orchids indigenous to South Carolina, their habitats, and their ecology.
About the Speaker:
Tierney Rosenstock has been interested in orchids and their ecology since 2006 when she traveled to the tropics and saw them growing wild hanging from trees. Since then, she has learned about the myriad orchids in North America. She studied a North American species for her master's thesis, was a member of the Native Orchid Conference, helped lead the Adirondack Orchid Survey, and collected samples for the Smithsonian North American Orchid Conservation Center.
