Join us for an evening “Under the Stars” on November 18, 2023, at the Lowcountry Center Complex. Scouts are invited to come from 4 p.m. – 7p.m. for an exploration of the night sky. Astronomers will be onsite with telescopes to teach about the mysteries of the world after dark. Coastal Carolina University will provide a Planetarium and information about the stars above. We will provide games and crafts to learn about constellations, nocturnal animals, and night blooming flowers.
Registration is required. Scout groups will get invoiced. Individuals that register will pay $7.00 at the admission plaza.
Brookgreen does not provide the actual scout badge.
Our “Under the Stars” event can assist scouts towards earning their Girl Scout Space Science Badges. This program will meet some but not all requirements for the different badges through exploration of the Planetarium, Star gazing, Constellation and Moon Crafts, and information about nighttime flowers and animals.
Brownies will meet some requirements of the “Bump In the Night” Badge.
Cadettes will meet some requirements of the Night Owl Badge.
Please get in touch with your local council to purchase the badge. Brookgreen Gardens Badge is $4.50. (Scouts and non-scouts may purchase.)
