The following areas are closed:  Keepsakes, The Gardener’s Cottage, the Low Country History Exhibit, the Offner Center, and the Bleifeld Gallery. 

The the Jennewein Gallery is open and masks must be worn to enter the gallery. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided.

Food venues, and public restrooms are open with safety protocols in place. 

Based on recommendations from SCDHEC and the CDC, we strongly recommend that our guests wear a mask or comparable face covering to prevent the spread of COVID-19 while in the gardens in close proximity to others. In compliance with Georgetown County Emergency Ordinance 20-33, masks should always be used in any interior spaces, including public restrooms. 

Brookgreen Gardens is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Huntington Sculpture Garden Tour - Cancelled until further notice.

Self-Guided Music Tour - All Day (pick up MP3 player and headphones at Keepsakes) Cancelled until further notice.

Lowcountry: Change and Continuity - Closed

Whispering Wings Butterfly Exhibit - Closed until futher notice

The adult and children's push behind strollers have been removed from the gardens in the interest of safety. You are welcome to bring your own wheelchair or stroller to enjoy the gardens. If you need to rent a wheelchair or scooter we recommend the following:

The Creek Excursion
Cruise the creek on a 48-foot pontoon boat along historic rice fields as an interpreter helps you see the distinctive landscape of the rice plantations and understand the role of enslaved Africans in the cultivation of the rice crop and the shaping of the history of the Lowcountry. Daily at 11 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.

The Oaks
Ride along with an interpreter and hear about the history of the prominent Alston family that lived here during the colonial and antebellum eras. Daily at 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. Cancelled until further notice.

The Trekker
Visit Laurel Hill and Springfield Plantation sites. Daily at 10:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. Cancelled until further notice.

Please note: pets are not allowed at Brookgreen for their safety and the safety of our animal collection. Pets are also not allowed to be left in vehicles for their own safety.

Service animals that have received special training to assist disabled persons are welcome.


Harvest Restaurant is open daily from 11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

The Old Kitchen is open daily from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 

The Courtyard Cafe is open daily from 10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

For their safety and the safety of our animal collection, pets are not allowed, nor can they be left in vehicles inside Brookgreen.
Service animals that have received special training to assist disabled persons are welcome. Animals whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.
