The Creative Education Department will host “Where the Trees Grow,” a free annual program for fifth and seventh graders on March 5-9 and March 12-16.  Through two outdoor programs, students become familiar with the anatomy of two of the forests here at Brookgreen Gardens:  1) Walking through the Upland Forest and the Cypress Swamp ecosystems, the students will compare and notate on a Venn diagram the different species of both plants and animals in these two forested areas; and 2) The students will be introduced to a forest profile.  Along with observing the layers of a forest and tree cross sections, the students will observe the horizons and soil composition that make up the forest floor.
