February is National Bird-feeding Month, and this year’s theme is “Winter Comforts
Birds need the same basic resources to survive that people do – food, water and shelter. Many of the songbirds in our area are residents all year, while others will migrate as the seasons change.
Bird feeders filled with high quality food will invite the birds to come to your outdoor refuge. When the days are short and the nights are long, a diet high in calories help the birds to survive. We will discuss the types of food and feeders that will attract various birds, providing them with the nutrition that they need. Some of their behaviors and courting styles will also be touched on.
