Join us at Brookgreen Gardens for a hands-on workshop where you’ll explore the art of crafting with luffa, a unique vegetable in the gourd and cucumber family that is often mistaken for a sea sponge. Harvested right here in our gardens, luffa (Luffa aegyptiaca, synonym L. cylindrica) is commonly used as a natural exfoliator and can be easily grown in your own backyard.
In this session, you’ll learn how to process freshly picked luffa into a locally grown, organic sponge that you can take home. We’ll begin with a brief introduction to the luffa plant, its sustainable harvesting practices, and how you can grow it in your own garden. Then, we’ll guide you through the steps to transform it into a practical and eco-friendly sponge.
This workshop is perfect for craft enthusiasts and those interested in sustainable living. All materials are provided, and you’ll leave with a unique, handcrafted item that highlights your connection to nature. Don’t miss this special opportunity to create something both beautiful and useful!
All materials will be provided
