Part-time Security Officer
Part-time Security Officer - We are looking for PT Security Officers to performs routine patrols including walking patrols, monitor/operates remote security system, identifies potential safety hazards; must possess knowledge of security, electronic security, communication systems, and be able to pass a security evaluation, SLED registration, and CPR certification. Previous work experience preferred. Flexibility to work various schedules and a valid SC Driver's License is required. *This position is for the 2:30-10:30 shift.
Food Service Associates – Part Time - We are currently accepting applications for experienced food service associates. We offer part time flexible day shift hours in an excellent environment. Must have excellent customer service skills, a positive attitude and great work ethic. Previous experience for Servers and Cooks required.
Interpreter / Guest service, Part-time
We are seeking a part-time interpreter to join our Guest Services team. The interpreter presents historic programs developed by Brookgreen Gardens to the general public and special groups. Program venues include a Creek Excursion and tour vehicles that travel into the backwoods at Brookgreen. The Creek Excursion interpreter rides on a 48 passenger pontoon boat that travels down the waterways bordering the abandoned rice fields. Duties include collecting tickets, maintaining daily records and effectively translating scripted material into an informative and enjoyable overall guest experience. Knowledge of Lowcountry culture, history and animal / plant identification is required to effectively communicate interpretive materials. The qualified individual must be outgoing, have significant public speaking experience, ability to learn and follow scripted material and effectively work with our team. The position is for two to four days per week including weekends and holidays. Being an outside position, you would be exposed to the various weather elements throughout the year.
Friends Associate, Part-time
The Friends Associate is a part-time administrative position responsible for assisting the Director of Public Operations in organizing the activities of the “Friends of Brookgreen Gardens” and in their achievement of the institution’s goals and work to ensure that they have a positive and rewarding experience. Responsibilities include: Maintain accurate records via appropriate computer software. Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events. Complete financial reports including dues and contributions. Record minutes for the Friends Executive Committee and Friends General Meetings.
Facilitate meetings and other needs, respond to phone calls and emails, and coordinate with staff in coordination with the Director of Public Operations. Qualifications include: Associate degree in an appropriate field and two years experience. Highly proficient computer skills including MS Office, database, PowerPoint, Publisher, and other graphics as well as company computer software programs; excellent written and verbal communications including the ability to work comfortably and effectively with the Friends, Brookgreen members, corporate donors and others in the community.
Brookgreen Gardens is seeking Horticulture Summer Interns May through August, 2017. This is a wonderful opportunity for college or university students enrolled in a horticulture or related program to gain hands-on experience in a public garden setting. Learn from Brookgreen’s staff of horticulturists in areas ranging from annual and perennial plant management, greenhouse operations and propagation, woody plant care, turfgrass culture and more. In addition to daily scheduled work tasks, field trips and related lectures will be used to enhance the educational experience.
Applicants must be enrolled in a college or university horticulture or related program, or have recently (within a year) graduated from one. Applicants must be legally able to work in the United States. All applicants must be able to perform strenuous work in heat and humidity with exposure to biting and stinging insects and poison ivy.
