Director of Marketing and Communications - is a full-time position and a senior member of the Brookgreen management team responsible for the generation of income from admissions and on-site sales. The Director serves as the institution’s media buyer, marketing strategist, copywriter, and editor of all written material and is the primary liaison with the media. In addition, the Director supervises the development and maintenance of Brookgreen’s web site, social media, and other digital communications and serves as the main public relations representative of the gardens. As a director of the institution, they provide advice and leadership on all matters affecting Brookgreen and share responsibility for the success of the institution.
Minimum Qualifications: Substantial knowledge of marketing principles and strategies. Proven skills at increasing customer base and revenues through market analysis, product development, media campaigns, and networking. Ability to understand Brookgreen’s products, develop and sustain productive relationships with travel and tourism organizations, speak before audiences, appear on television, video, radio, and work collegially within the media. Must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellence in work products and relationships with co-workers—as generally represented by the completion of an undergraduate degree in an appropriate field and five years of experience in marketing or a closely related field. Cashier / Shuttle Driver / Guest Services, Part-time
Seeking a reliable and courteous, experienced cashiers for a fast paced, high volume admission booth. You must have a positive attitude with the ability to handle transactions quickly / accurately in a polite and professional manner. This is a direct customer contact position requiring an individual with a high level of people skills. Must be able to learn I wide range of responsibilities, require minimal supervision and have the ability to multi-task. Will also be cross-trained to operate an on site shuttle, transporting our visitors within Brookgreen. Some lifting required. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to work on weekends and holidays.

Interpreter / Guest service, Part-time
We are seeking a part-time interpreter to join our Guest Services team. The interpreter presents historic programs developed by Brookgreen Gardens to the general public and special groups. Program venues include a Creek Excursion and tour vehicles that travel into the backwoods at Brookgreen. The Creek Excursion interpreter rides on a 48 passenger pontoon boat that travels down the waterways bordering the abandoned rice fields. Duties include collecting tickets, maintaining daily records and effectively translating scripted material into an informative and enjoyable overall guest experience. Knowledge of Lowcountry culture, history and animal / plant identification is required to effectively communicate interpretive materials. The qualified individual must be outgoing, have significant public speaking experience, ability to learn and follow scripted material and effectively work with our team. The position is for two to four days per week including weekends and holidays. Being an outside position, you would be exposed to the various weather elements throughout the year.

Horticulture Intern
Brookgreen Gardens is seeking Horticulture Summer Interns May through August, 2017. This is a wonderful opportunity for college or university students enrolled in a horticulture or related program to gain hands-on experience in a public garden setting. Learn from Brookgreen’s staff of horticulturists in areas ranging from annual and perennial plant management, greenhouse operations and propagation, woody plant care, turfgrass culture and more. In addition to daily scheduled work tasks, field trips and related lectures will be used to enhance the educational experience.
Applicants must be enrolled in a college or university horticulture or related program, or have recently (within a year) graduated from one. Applicants must be legally able to work in the United States. All applicants must be able to perform strenuous work in heat and humidity with exposure to biting and stinging insects and poison ivy.
