New Butterfly House Opens at Brookgreen
April 1 - October 31
Whispering Wings Butterfly Experience
This seasonal exhibit features a lush garden filled with tropical plants where hundreds of butterflies soar through the air. Monarch, Zebra Longwing, Polydamas Swallowtails, Pipevine Swallowtails, Spicebush Swallowtails, Julias, Buckeyes, Queens, Painted Lady, and American Lady are just a few of the species that call Whispering Wings home. We will add dozens of other species throughout the summer and fall. Whispering Wings contains a pupae emergence room where visitors may observe the transformation from chrysalis to adult butterflies. Interpretive signs throughout the exhibit and benches provide a restful place to watch their delicate beauty in flight. The exhibit is open daily from 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $3 - adults and $2 - children, for a 30 minute timed visit in addition to garden admission.

Cool Summer Evenings 5 - 9 p.m.
Come for dinner and stay for the show when Brookgreen offers live entertainment and evening cruises down the creeks in the cool of the summer evenings. Entertainment is included in garden admission. Creek cruises are $7 in addition to garden admission. Cool Summer Evenings are sponsored in part by:
“Gullah/Geechee-mania!”
Wednesday, June - August
Ron Daise, Brookgreen’s Vice President for Creative Education, will host “Gullah/Geechee-mania!” on Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m. in the Wall Lowcountry Center Auditorium. “Gullah/Geechee-mania!” is an interactive, cultural game show that informs viewers about the unique Gullah/Geechee culture and heritage of the southeastern coastal United States. Each guest becomes a “contestant” who will gain “points” for answering questions about Gullah/Geechee people, songs, history, culture, foods, and trivia. The program is free with garden admission.
Sculpture Exhibition
August 7 – October 31
National Sculpture Society 77th Annual Awards Exhibition
For the first time in its history, the National Sculpture Society’s premier awards exhibition will be held exclusively Brookgreen Gardens. This juried show includes the work of prominent sculptors from across the country, including 15 award-winning works and will be on display in the Noble and Jennewein Galleries. During the course of the exhibit, visitors will be able to vote for their favorite sculptures to win Brookgreen Gardens’ People’s Choice Award. The exhibition is free with regular garden admission.
