| Description |
The obverse of a round (1 inch diameter) bronze medal depicts profile portraits of John Adams and William McKinley with the inscription: "John Adams 1800/ William McKinley 1900." The reverse depicts the United States Capitol buildings as they were in 1800 and 1900 with the inscription: "United States Capitol 1900/ United States Capitol 1800 / Commemorative of Establishment of the Capitol in the District of Columbia." The medal is attached to a red-white-blue-striped silk ribbon. The medal is accompanied by its original presentation box printed: " Commemorative Medal / One Hundredth Anniversary of the Establishment of the Seat of Government in the District of Columbia / December Twelve, Nineteen Hundred." |
