| Description |
A round (1-3/8 inch diameter) bronze medal with white silk ribbon (2 x 1/2 inch) woven with the crosses flags of the United States of America and the Phillipines. The medal is attached to the ribbon by a metal bar inscribed: "Washington City, Oct. 1899" on the obverse and "Manila, May 1, 1898" on the reverse. The pin bar across the top of the ribbon depicts the US Capitol on the obverse, and is inscribed on the reverse: "The bronze in this medal was catured by Admiral Dewey at Manila." The medal depicts a profile portrait of Admiral Dewey on the obverse, and a ship on the reverse. The original presentation box from Joseph K. Davison, Manufacturing Jeweler, Philadelphia, accompanies the medal. |
