"The medal's obverse depicts the myth of Pandora's box where the miseries of the world were unwittingly released by the curious woman, Pandora. However, the sculptor allegorically equated the creation of the bomb and the myth by depicting a grinning death's head rising from the box." (Salmon 267) |
