| Description |
"Iris" by Paul Jennewein
Figure/female/nude/myth/rainbow
"The sculptor has recreated the curve in the unusual composition of the figure. A young woman stands on her toes with her body arched backwards. The arch of the body represents the arch of the rainbow. Both arms are raised, palms inward, a posture he successfully used six years earlier in another female figure, 'Spirit of Justice', for the department of Justice in Washington, D.C. Her legs are pressed together as if poised for ascent, creating stability and the sense of solid form. The figure stands upon a circular base of three tiers." ("Brookgreen Gardens Sculpture Volume II", Robin R Salmon, 1993).
