| Description |
"Toro Bravo" by Charlotte Dunwiddie
Animal/bull/sport/bullfight
"A result of knowledge of bullfighting gained from living in Spain and Peru is "Toro Bravo". The sculptor chose the dramatic moment when the fighting bull emerges from the dark corral into the dazzling light of the arena, hesitating before he makes his first charge. This bronze was awarded the Ellin P. Speyer Prize of the National Academy of Design in 1969 and the Gold Medal of Honor of the Allied Artists of America in the following year." ("Brookgreen Gardens Sculpture, Volume II", Robin R. Salmon, 1993).
