Description "Grandmother" by Anna Hyatt Huntington

"An elderly woman with a stern expression stands stiffly, supporting herself with a thin wooden cane. She wears a long tailored dress with a high collar and bustle dating from the late 19th century. Pinned upon her bodice is a lady's watch with its chain encircling her neck. In her left hand is an open fan. Her hair is braided and coiled on top of her head. The sculpture is a portrait of the sculptor's paternal grandmother, Anna Randolph Hyatt." ("Brookgreen Gardens Sculpture", Beatrice Gilman Proske, 1968).
