Description "Mother" by Anna Hyatt Huntington

"An elderly woman is seated propped up by pillows in an upholstered chair with her feet placed on a small footstool. She wears a long dress with a shawl, and a small lace cap is perched upon her head. In her hands is an open book. This work is a portrait of the sculptor's mother, Audella Beebe Hyatt, who was an amateur landscape painter and illustrator of her husband's natural history books."
