| Description |
"Study in Drapery" by Brenda Putnam
Figure/female/drapery
"The seated figure of a girl in a simple evening gown has been chosen to display the varied fall of a soft material. She is in a sidewise position, with shoulders slightly bowed and head turned downward. One sandaled foot is raised on a footstool, while the other is propped against the stepped base. The low-cut gown clings to the torso and lies in long, curving folds over the knees. A scarf is draped behind her, falling from an uplifted to a lowered hand. The slender form is well defined beneath the drapery, but the face is only summarily indicated." ("Brookgreen Gardens Sculpture", Beatrice Gilman Proske, 1968). |
