| Description |
"Nature's Dance" by Alexander Stirling Calder
Figure/female/dance/nature/birds
"On a ringed sphere a woman is poised on one foot, the other knee bent and the body turned in the movements of the dance. A choir of birds rises from beneath her feet to her lowered hand. The other arm is raised to her bent head. The rythmic movement of arms and legs is woven into an intricate pattern. The statue was completed in 1938 from an earlier sketch." ("Brookgreen Gardens Sculpture", Beatrice Gilman Proske, 1968). |
