| Description |
"L'Apres-Midi d'un Faune" by Percy Bryant Baker
Figure/nymph/faun/mythology/ballet
"A slender nymph seated on the ground leans backward laughing up at a faun who stands at the right. Both pull at a piece of drapery cast over their shoulders and held in their outstretched hands. The features are delicately accented and their hair gracefully stylized; the edges of the clinging draperies are set in formal pleats. The small bronze from which this was enlarged was modeled between 1927 and 1933. The sculptor himself cut the marble, assisted by Abram Belskie." ("Brookgreen Gardens Sculpture", Beatrice Gilman Proske, 1968). |
