"Joan of Arc has risen in the stirrups, as her horse, with head held high, marches forward. She gazes at the cross-shaped hilt of the sword raised in her right hand. She is clad in plate armor, the visor of her helmet raised. The sculptor has chosen to represent the Maid before her first battle at Orleans."
