"Reaching Jaguar" by Anna Hyatt Huntington
Animal/feline/jaguar
"On the top of a rock is a jaguar, his hind feet braced, looking downward as he reaches down the face of the rock with his left forefoot. The body is curved slightly to the left. This subject, originally conceived in 1905 or 1906 and modeled life size at the Auvers-sur-Oise in the following year, was given final form in 1926. It was shown in plaster at the Paris "Salon" of 1908 and awarded the sculpture prize at the Woman's Art Club exhibition, New York, in 1910." ("Brookgreen Gardens Sculpture", Beatrice Gilman Proske, 1968)
