"Sylvan" by Chester Beach
Figure/male/faun/squirrel
"A young man leans against an oak trunk, resting his elbow on the top, as he smiles down at a squirrel perched on a branch which curves about his waist. By the easy pose, with relaxed muscles, and the care-free mood, the sculptor has suggested the atmosphere of a sunny glade. The light plays over minute variations of surface to give a luminous quality of flesh." (Brookgreen Gardens Sculpture, Beatrice Gilman Proske, 1968).
