Brookgreen’s annual fall festival hours are 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and the weekend is filled with outdoor activities the whole family will enjoy.(The Pavilion Restaurant will be closed during the festival.) Most activities are available all day.

Roger Day Performs 'Marsh Mud Madness'
From his first job as a camp counselor to his current continent-crisscrossing family concert and recording schedule, Roger Day, has been writing and performing smart, interactive music that encourages kids to SING LOUD, JUMP HIGH and DREAM BIG! A multiple Parents' Choice Award recipient and approved Dove Family Foundation artist, Roger plays over 200 concerts every year from major festival stages and performing arts halls to little tiny rural schools and libraries and he loves it all. In Marsh Mud Madness, Roger will introduce families and kids to some very colorful characters who live in and around the coastal islands and in the process they will learn about the important role each of these play in maintaining a healthy coastal ecosystem. Performances are at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. & 2 p.m.
Pumpkin Patch Painting Activity – we supply the paint and brushes – small pumpkins-$4 large pumpkins-$8
Scarecrow Building Activity- we supply the hay, poles, and twine and you bring your old clothes or use some of ours!
Wagon Hay Rides - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. depart on the hour and half-hour - $4 per person.

Special Excursions on the Creek: The Not so Spooky Swamp Adventure With Lowcountry Ghost Stories and Animal Tales - Creep on board for our Not So Spooky Swamp Adventure! Listen to spellbinding stories of Lowcountry ghosts and their connections to Brookgreen Gardens as we float down the mysterious Brookgreen creeks. Be enthralled by animal tales of the fascinating creatures that make their homes in the eerie Lowcountry swamps. Who knows what we might see as we meander past ancient, twisted trees dripping with Spanish moss. Purchase at Lowcountry Center at least 10 minutes prior to excursion time. Limited availability. Creek cruises are at 11a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., & 3 p.m. Adults $7, Children $4 (no regular program creek excursion offered either day).

Susana and Timmy Abell Performances
Timmy Abell is a nationally recognized children's songwriter, touring and recording artist. Recipient of the prestigious North Carolina Arts Council's Fellowship for Song writing, he is best known for his highly entertaining family concerts and educational programs, and over the past decade his recordings have been enjoyed by tens of thousands of families around the country. Timmy and his wife Susana have joined forces to create a program that combines music, storytelling, puppetry and poetry. They combine their unique talents to offer dynamic and highly engaging performances centered around a repertoire of unforgettable original songs and stories. Performances are at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. & 2:30 p.m.
Enchanted Storybook Forest - Characters from the stories associated with the Storybook houses will read and retell their stories in full costume and be available for photo opportunities at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. & 2 p.m.
Wagon Hay Rides - depart from 10 am to 4 pm, on the hour and half-hour $4 per person.

New in 2013, is a giant cornucopia at the Welcome Center lawn. This 8-foot-tall cornucopia, hand-made by volunteers with all natural materials is the perfect setting for a fall family photo. Here's a short video of how it was made and a preview of it almost completed.
