Come for Dinner and Stay for the Show During Brookgreen Gardens’ Cool Summer Even= ings!

Murrells Inlet, SC- Bring your own blanket or chair and enjoy live entertainment during Cool Summer Evenin= gs on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, June 17 through August 14 at Brookgreen Gardens.   All live entertainment is included = in the regular admission to the Gardens. Cruises down the creek are offered all th= ree evenings at 5:30 and 6:30 pm. and are $7 in addition to garden admission. <= o:p>

Wednesdays’ schedule includes two plays written by the talented local playwright, Lori Lewis, and produced and directed by Brookgreen’s Vice President of Development, Pat Tukey. A Carolina Pirate: Anne Bonney and Company, will be presented at 7:00 pm in the Live Oak Allee on Wednesday evenings, June 17 through July 15. This play tells the story of the high-spirited adventures of pirates Anne Bonney, Mary Reed, and “Calico Jack” Rackham, who roamed the waters of present day Murrells Inlet. On Wednesday evenings, July 22 through August 1= 2, the play The Story of Alice Flagg= will be presented at 7:00 pm, also in the Live Oak Allee= . Probably no ghost story or legend exists among these oaks as long-lived and tragic= as the story of Alice Flagg.  It is a tale of forbidden love, family secrets, and the social makeup of those who lived here more than 150 years ago.

On Thursdays,= a Nature Walk at 4 p.m., followed by the popular evening animal program at 5 p.m., w= ill give kids a chance to burn off energy just in time to settle down for the S= tory Hour at 6 p.m. in the Wall Lowcountry Center Program Shed.  There will be a series of guest story-tellers including Okefenokee Joe’s tales about nature and conservation, Mike Walker’s ghost stories, Lee Brockington’s hi= story of Eliza Pinckney and many others.

On Fridays, t= he Concert Series will be at 7 p.m. in the Live Oak Allee. Javier Vega will re= turn with a new group of musicians, Ipanema. Other performers on Friday evenings include the popular Vocal Edition, the steel drum band - Island Trio, the j= azz band - Rivers & Company, and acoustic guitar players -Mark Shuler and J= eff Houts.

Brookgreen Gardens is located on U.= S. 17 between Myrtle Beach and Pawleys Island, South Caroli= na. Children 5 and under are admitted free; adult tickets (13-64) are $12; seni= ors (65 and over) are $10; children ages 6-12 are $5. Admission to Brookgreen is good for seven days. All entertainment is included in the admission price. Creek excursions tickets are $7 in addition to garden admission.
