Brookgreen Gardens hosts 12 larger-than-life LEGO® brick sculpture installations in its Native Wildlife Zoo. Created by Sean Kenney, renowned artist and children’s author, “Nature Connects” is an award winning exhibit currently touring the country. Made from almost a half million LEGO® bricks, the sculptures bring nature to life. The exhibit is open daily and included in garden admission.

It features interpretive panels with an educational message for each sculpture to help connect children with the natural world and promote conservation. In addition, there are educational activities such as sculpture building contest, scavenger hunts, and 30,000 LEGO® bricks available for guests to play with during their visit.

“Build Your Own ‘Simply Amazing’ Creation” LEGO Sculpture Building Contest - From Monday, May 30 – Friday, June 3, all LEGO fans are invited to initiate participation in a sculpture building contest entitled “Build Your Own ‘Simply Amazing’ Creation.” To enter the contest, participants need to click here and download the complete rules. All sculptures must be made from LEGO bricks and be submitted via Facebook or Instagram with the appropriate hashtags. Semi-finalists will be selected in three categories of age groups from online posts of photographs. Sculptures of semi-finalists will be displayed at Brookgreen Gardens from June 11-August 27, and a winners from each age category will be selected by popular vote. Questions? LEGO® Robotic Celebration
May 14

Join us on May 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., when Brookgreen Gardens partners with the South Carolina First LEGO League and the Grand Strand Technology Council to host a Robotics Celebration. Learn about the First LEGO League and how to become a participant. Already on a team? Learn to improve your FIRST LEGO League Team in sessions such as How to Build a Better Bot. Your team will also be able to start on next season's Animal Allies research project in sessions about the Zoo’s animals. Connect with other teams in the Working Together session when groups will be completing Core Value activities together. There will be plenty of time for a LEGO sculpture scavenger hunt and even time to build your own LEGO Animal. All the events are included in garden admission.
