Excelling as an architectural sculptor, Weinman created some of his finest work for public buildings including friezes for the Supreme Court and pediments for the National Archives and Post Office Buildings.  Riders of the Dawn presents the joyous spirit of a new day and youthful vigor, embodied by two powerful stallions ridden by young men.  The strong muscles of horses and riders create intricate patterns of light and shade as the sun crosses the sky each day.
